LE/AD Mission & Goals

The mission of Lakes Education Action Drive is to create an
awareness and appreciation of our lakes and watersheds and to
promote their protection and wise use.

Florida has more than  7,700 freshwater lakes and more than 99% of the population lives within 50 miles of a publicly-owned lake.  Our more than 550 lakes enhance the quality of life and standard of living for all residents of Polk County.

Lakes provide numerous benefits including recreation, fisheries, navigation, economic benefits, wildlife habitat, water storage, and more.  Our beautiful lakes also enhance property values, contribute to tourism, and provide jobs for citizens.

Lakes Education/Action Drive (LE/AD) is a non-profit corporation organized for the purpose of educating the citizens of Polk County about our lakes, and helping them to realize the tremendous benefits our lakes provide.

LE/AD Goals

To educate and instruct the public on the beautification and preservation of the lakes, including  the surrounding areas and wildlife, in Polk County.

To promote and organize remedial activities for the enhancement and community enjoyment of the lakes, including the surrounding areas of wildlife, in Polk County.
